I visited Mr Ayub on the back of an initial consultation / examination on my leg lesion in Leeds in August. I was disappointed that the consultation began with Mr Ayub seemingly having no paperwork or sight of my file and no knowledge of why I was there. After a very brief consultation (around 15 mins) I was told that I would be having a biopsy as soon as the schedule allowed. The cost of this 15 mins was £320. The Biopsy was carried out on 13th Sept. Whilst I thought the nursing staff were great and could not have done more to make me feel comfortable, I felt Mr Ayub was distant and abrupt - particularly when I asked about an appointment that was being made for me the following week when my results were not expected for 2 weeks (this appointment was with a nurse to assess my dressing and wound, which was not made clear to me initially.) When I received the pathology results, whilst understandably relieved that this lesion was psoriasis, I was again disappointed that there would be no follow up consultation to discuss potential treatment for this condition and instead referred to my GP or dermatologist, which leaves me back at square one for managing the condition now that is has been diagnosed. Overall, whist happy that my issue has been diagnosed in a timely fashion, I do feel a little let down by the extent of the care (no follow up consultation which had been pre-authorised) and my transactions with Mr Ayub which were transactional at best and could have been more personal, given the circumstances.

Response from Mr Humayun Ayub Khan

Appologies for the poor experience. Just to clarify the referral was from an insurance company provider and I do not have control of the prices charged for consultation by the company as I am paid separately by insurance company. The purpose of most referral are for diagnostic purposes and the condition has already been reviewed by dermatologists. Hence the referral/recommendation for management by GP or dermatologist for your condition. I sometimes refer patients directly to. dermatologists if they are local to mancehster. As far as the documentation not available at the time I sincerly apologise for the inconvenience.
