I had major surgery earlier this year and cannot recommend Mr Hooman Soleymanimajd highly enough. He is an exceptional surgeon and person on every level. If a family member or friend ever needed treatment, I would trust him 100% to find the best possible outcome for that individual within their set of personal circumstances. He holds himself to an extremely high set of standards in terms of technical expertise, the provision of the best patient care possible and in the leadership of his medical practice. I also found him to be extremely kind. He took the time to listen and even phoned us late one evening. I was quite anxious, as I had been unable to speak to a specialist for weeks. He made time to talk to me, despite the late hour. These qualities have also meant that he has been able to build an exceptionally strong team around him and strong links with colleagues and their teams in related disciplines, further enhancing the care that he is able to offer. As an example, there was a complication post my hysterectomy due to the fibroid having attached itself to my bowel and being very difficult to remove. His colleague Mr Oliver Jones, a consultant colorectal surgeon, was immediately consulted and visited me on three separate occasions. Although I learnt that the complication is very common after such surgery, it was incredibly reassuring that Mr Soleymani immediately involved his colleague, who gave me very helpful advice. The ward manager, Dieago, is also very professional and like Mr Soleymani has a rare depth of kindness and compassion. It’s hard to explain but when I was in hospital I could feel the bonds and respect in the team and between teams, from the nurses through to other consultants involved in Mr Soleymani’s practice or in related practices. I would also like to mention Zoe Risk, Mr Soleymani’s PA who is very proactive, focused and again extremely kind. She made a big difference to my experience as a patient. Mr Soleymani is a consultant who always goes the extra mile for his patients, which means no stone is left unturned, but this never felt heavy. He explained the outcomes and decisions to me very clearly and succinctly and in an empathetic manner. He was able to pace where I was at mentally and emotionally and was incredibly patient in helping me move forward. At the same time, he can step back and be very definitive when he needs to be and is happy to explain all the whys and wherefores of why he has come to the conclusion he has. I have made a full recovery and will be eternally grateful to Mr Soleymani and his wonderful team and colleagues.
