This was a complex knee revision operation which Mr Atkinson explained clearly and in great detail beforehand. During the operation there was a complication which he was completely prepared for and again explained in detail, even with photos on his phone!
Post-op he visited daily to check on things until I left hospital.
I had complete confidence in him and felt I could discuss anything - methods of pain relief, types of exercise, the future. He is a true professional and a great communicator who I felt was more like a friend than some other more aloof consultants I have known.
Now, just over 2 months later, I'm impressed with the progress I'm making and very pleased that I decided to go ahead with this operation, particularly with Mr Atkinson.
