2 years ago I was a fit, active 36 year old and keen cyclist. One morning after a ride I woke up with terrible sciatic pain and unable to walk. My experience with NHS was unfortunately poor and there was an acceptance that this happens and an offer to sign me off work. No investigative work into cause and extreme reluctance to offer any service to try and restore a pain free life. Through booking a private MRI, physio and medication, I managed to live a relatively normal life although in pain varying from nagging to severe. 8 months ago pain began escalating again and began restricting my activities, it was at this point I contacted Mr Rudol. It was great to finally have someone look at how this could be managed and outline the potential steps from conservative treatments to the different types of surgery options available. We tried injections however these were unsuccessful and finally decided to take the surgical route and went for a lumbar microdiscectomy. The care before and after was great, risks were outlined and I was fully informed before proceeding. It's now 8 weeks since the operation and it is the best thing I could have done. My experience in recovery is immediate relief after the operation, followed by 1-2 weeks of leg pain returning / increasing, weeks 3 onwards pain decreasing. I'm pleased to say leg pain is almost completely gone and improvement continues. I'm looking forward to getting my fitness back and returning to football, DIY etc. Thank you Mr Rudol!
