2nd September 2019

On the 26th of January 2019 I had an MRI scan confirming 2 major slipped discs and a fracture on the lower part of my vertebrate. My L2 nerve was completely squashed and I had no cartilage left. The extent of the damage was severe and it was impacting highly on my quality of life. The damage forced me to walk away from my AV installation business and my life was spiralling into nothing that also lead to depression because I was unable to do every day tasks. Before Christmas 2018 I was in unimaginable pain and was at such a low I didn’t know how I was ever going to feel anything like normal again. As soon as my eyes opened on a morning and I stood upright the pain would start, everyday painkillers did not help at all. After receiving the scan results I was offered fusion surgery that consisted of four titanium screws, a plate and cage. Being diagnosed with MS at twelve years old (I’m now 36) I have had my fair share of hospital experiences the latter not being pleasant but I am well accustomed to regular visits. That aside in all honesty the thought of major spinal surgery petrified me, until I was introduced to Mr Greg Rudol. Mr Rudol went through everything with myself in fine detail. He explained everything, what would be done, how it would be done, what to expect after the surgery and obviously the risks involved. I listened carefully and I was 100% convinced that whatever the outcome I would be in a better state physically and mentally than I had been in a long long time, it was a no brainer. On the 6th of July 2019 I had the surgery. It was a five hour operation and it was more successful than I could have hoped for. The difference I felt, even the day after surgery was no short of a miracle for myself. I spent three nights on the ward at Elland Spire hospital and after having the surgery on the Saturday afternoon I was back at home on the following Tuesday evening. The Spire hospital staff were no short of amazing. I spent the next two weeks resting and taking things very slow but day by day my quality of life improved dramatically to the point where my family and friends closest to me were taken back by how quickly and efficiently I was recovering. Eight weeks on and I am a different person. I dread to think where I would be if I had decided not to go through with the surgery. Yes there were other options, steroid injections and physio etc, unfortunately none of these would have cured the problem and let me get on with my life as I am able to do so now. My quality of life was at 20% and I’m now pushing on to 80%. I have started a new business and wake up smiling every morning and I am completely pain free. Mr Rudol and the rest of the team did a fine job and I am truly grateful for his medical services and expertise. I wouldn’t like to go through the process again but if I had to and I had the reassurance of Mr Rudol and the chance of improving my lifestyle I would, no questions asked. My wife, two children, family and friends extend their gratitude to a remarkable professional whom without his help I would not be the person I am today. Words cannot express how Mr Rudol has helped transform my life. My eight year old son has many super hero’s a the moment, Mr Rudol is mine. On a final note, I can’t stress the importance of the work that is carried out by Mr Rudol and his team. People do not need to suffer as they do and I highly recommend anybody suffering from any type of problematic spinal condition should not hesitate in booking a consultation with Mr Rudol. If anything can be done to help improve your quality of life he will strive in doing so. Hats off to your Mr Greg Rudol and thank you very very much. Kindest of regards James Hall
