Yesterday I had great news. It was a year since my spinal surgery (L3, L4 and L5 fusion with metalwork and spinal cage), following my CT scan in early January, all was well and healed. In June 2022 I trapped a sciatic nerve (and had a fracture in my spine) which put me in a wheelchair for 90% of my time which was life changing. Following an inital meeting with Mr Rudol I had MRI scans to find out what was going on to confirm the above. Mr Rudol took great time and patience in explaining what my options were (this during lockdown so a lot of calls done on zoom) which were actually quite frightening at the time - spinal surgery with a potential 12 - 18 month recovery time. I took time to consider it, during which time I had two spinal injections for the pain, but ultimately made the decision to go ahead with the surgery. I was 4 days in the Spire 'hotel' in Roundhay where I went through 6 hours of surgery, but had every confidence in Mr Rudol and his team, despite having to go through all the things that 'could' go wrong. During those 4 days Mr Rudol came to check on me twice a day to see how I was recovering, he was always professional, polite and encouraging to get up and get going. I was given a fairly daunting exercise regime but again Mr Rudol outlined, patiently, the benefits of the programme. I would also like here to give thanks to Sorelle Hartley, Mr Rudol's PA who has always been at the end of a phone/email with any queries or concerns I had, and Mr Rudol was always prompt in his response. One of the questions above is Did the Doctor listen to you - I would say that Mr Rudol does have that rare skill of listening, along with total professionalism and patience which puts you at ease. He explains everything in great detail in a way that shows his passion for his 'art'. I would highly recommend and trust Mr Rudol if anyone is considering spinal surgery.
