The outcome of my second hip replacement undertaken by Mr Mundy has been most disappointing. I am in more discomfort now than I was prior to surgery 18 months ago. I knew there was something not right directly after the surgery when the physio got me up to start moving. There was no give in the newly operated hip at all. I had my other hip replacement to compare this to so I knew. I returned to see Mr Mundy a few times to try and convince him of my pain and lack of movement. He came across as very disinterested and suggested that I up my mobility without asking what exercises/physio I was endeavouring to do at that time. At not one point during any of these visits did he examine my hip or range of movement. I had to ask him to check my leg length. He stared at his screen and told me nothing was wrong. At one appointment he didn't know who I was even though my file sat in front of him. I know we're just mere patients with little or no knowledge but I know my body and knew and still know that there is an issue which may or may not have happened during surgery. Mr Mundy then referred me to a spine consultant at the same hospital as he thought it might be a lumbar issue. At that appointment, the spine consultant asked me to put my weight on one leg and then the other, tested my reflexes and prescribed a medication that he said may or may not work! £250.00 out of pocket as my insurer would not cover spine consultations. The spine consultant then suggested an appointment with a neurologist and nerve conduction testing (another £1000.00 in total) - all profit for the hospital I suppose. I decided to decline this. I just felt I was being passed around to keep me quiet. The hospital were very quick book me in for both surgeries, which I appreciated but I don't feel that they are interested in post surgery issues. I do hope I am the only one to have experienced or will experience this. I have decided to seek an independent second opinion as have not been invited back to Three Shires for any kind of yearly review. Will certainly not ever be utilising the services of Three Shires Hospital again.
