It is undoubtedly traumatic news when someone (not Mr Cheetham) tells you: “Its bad news, I’m sorry you’ve got a [bowel] cancer and it is in a difficult position [to operate on] and good luck”; which was how we learnt that I had got a cancerous tumour. However if you are then fortunate to have Mr Cheetham appointed as your consultant you have done better than winning a roll-over lottery. He not only takes as much time as you need to draw out a picture of what is needed to remove that cancer; he plans the operation to give you time to best prepare for the operation [in my case lose some weight]. He then spends hours in surgery removing the tumour using keyhole surgery. He has a straightforward approach, combined with a sense of humour, professional approach and a bedside manner that is unbelievable. This man is a GOD. Dave Billington
