I have nothing but praise for Mr Betal and the care I received from him and the team at the Breast Care Centre at Worthing Hospital. He was charming, totally professional and explained everything clearly with a level of detail appropriate to both my self and my husband. When you see him, whether that's in clinic, before or after surgery, he focuses on you and both listens and gives you time to really absorb what he is telling you. He has such a warm manner that I felt we quickly built a rapport and consequently he gained my trust immediately which made me feel reassured that I was in good hands whatever the outcome. So often when consulting with doctors their knowledge and skill in their area of expertise is considered to be their prime concern. However, for the patient it is the doctor's skill in building and maintaining a relationship which is honest and where shared decision-making is a reality and not a token effort, that makes all the difference to the patient and the quality of their experience. His surgical expertise was excellent too and he was sensitive to the need to leave as little evidence of surgery as possible, to which my neat scars attest, and for which I am very grateful. When you are given a cancer diagnosis you are knocked off your equilibrium where nothing is quite as you had thought. Being cared for by Mr Betal and the team has made this uncertain time less of an ordeal as it was the first time it happened to me. I know going forward that I am in safe hands and for that I, and my family, are extremely grateful. Thank you
