The following is a copy of the letter I wrote to/about Mr David Lockington: This is a thank you letter.. and a recommendation. This is with reference to a lens extraction and corneal graft operation (the lens extraction as the first part of a corneal graft operation, the purpose being that a lens extraction (=cataract operation) afterwards might compromise the graft). You have no idea how grateful I am (to you... for giving me my life back). The more so as my cornea had decompensated, and, as I couldn't see out well, you couldn't see in well. It is also a small/short eye. Having worked as an ophthalmologist, I was way more aware of the difficulty of this operation than I would like to have been. I know it's 'science and stuff', but it feels like a miracle! (To clarify, I believe Medicine is also an art, and I in no way mean to detract from the surgical skill involved.) Thank you also for understanding that I wanted surgery on my other eye, before the difficult operation represented itself. You managed to do a lens extraction and lens implant in a small/short eye (I know because of the 28 diopter intraocular lens!), with posterior synechiae (edge of pupil i.e. iris stuck to the front of the lens in places from previous laser iridotomies), while protecting the cornea which is at risk. You said it was tricky, and I'm sure it was. The outcome of both operations could not have been better. Although I know facing medical procedures may be daunting, you could not have made it easier for me, such an easy straightforward manner. I could only highly recommend Dr (Mr) Lockington. P.S. Since I wrote this I have seen my optometrist (who is quite experienced), he also was very impressed, with the graft in particular.
