In September, I had a tonsillectomy at Nuffield Hospital from Dr. Hari. He was very reassuring and clear in the lead up to my surgery, so I wasn't too anxious upon my operation and was well aware of what to expect post operation. I was prescribed antibiotics for a week, as well as several different painkillers including a mouthwash. As expected, the pain was manageable with the painkillers at first before gradually increasing over the first couple of days. For the first week post-surgery, my throat was very painful, always being at its worst when waking up, before subsiding over the course of the afternoon and increasing in the evening. Dr. Hari advised me that this would happen and so I was prepared and regularly took the painkillers necessary to make it bearable. I was told that after the first 10 days, the pain would decrease and I'd feel better, which proved to be accurate, where I began to be able to do things around the house comfortably. He advised me to withhold from returning to university for at least two weeks, which was definitely the correct amount for optimal recovery and I was well enough to return after these two weeks - with the advice of avoiding busy public spaces to avoid potential infection. Thanks to all of Dr. Hari's clear advice and help I made a full recovery, returning to my usual business after three weeks and rarely needing painkillers during the 3rd week.
