I first saw Mr James in November, regarding a trapeziectomy. Being a bit nervous, I was told that I could have a general anaesthetic. Nearer the time and after my pre-assessment, I was told that it would be best if I had a block instead. That made me even more nervous, but on the day, he came for a chat with me and reassured me that I would be fine and explained it to me. He had a marvellous team, who should also be commended; Mark was the anaesthetist, who also put my mind at rest and was so good that when the time came, I didn't even realise that I'd been injected. I was given mild sedation and dozed for a while, but when I came to, I was able to chat happily with everyone whilst the operation was in full swing. The whole team were relaxed and jolly, there was banter and laughter, which certainly kept my spirits up. My after care has been superb, with physiotherapy and advice on scar management and massage. I saw Mr James today and I like to think that he is as delighted with my progress as I am. I would certainly recommend him to everyone and if I need anymore hand or wrist operations, I would certainly endeavour to have him as my surgeon again.
