Mr Anderson did a cystoscopy and diagnosed BPH. We discussed option of daily tablet or surgical procedure and Mr Anderson was exceedingly good at listening to my preferences. I opted for surgical procedure called TURP which, although it can hardly be described as anything other than thoroughly unpleasant, has worked 100% and I am very pleased indeed. I was hospitalised for a few days for the procedure and he came in on a day off to make sure I was OK. The nursing staff at Parkside were also incredibly caring, as was the lady anaesthetist he worked alongside. I have nothing except praise for Mr Anderson and his medical colleagues, second to none. It is disappointing, however, I consistently find this Parkside hospital has a problem with curt, indeed patently rude, reception staff. Today, at final follow up, I went to FOUR reception desks, main front desk, lady was perfectly polite, Ultrasound reception desk, after I was 10 mins late due traffic on my 50 mile drive, I was falling over myself with apology and charm, only to be met with a grumpy look and a clipboard thrust at me, "fill that in". Ultrasound 'care staff' unbelievably charming and lovely. Next onto outpatient building at back, main reception, gentleman perfectly civil, sent me upstairs to level 2, my fourth reception of the day, to be met with an arrogant and rude and condescending young man, another form to sign, and an almost sneer at me when I confirmed where I had to sign three times on it. The fifth reception I have experienced on the days of admittance for procedures is the one on the side of the building, where I can confirm consistency of total cold, unwelcoming and dismissive attitude on all occasions. As soon as you meet your first medical professional, you are once again returned to wonderfulness again. Mr Anderson, I urge you to get the hospital manager to figure out what has happened to this aspect of Parkside. Sorry for the rant, but, my word it needs to be said.
