Having difficulty swallowing an Xray revealed a pharyngeal pouch.
Mr Eng went into great detail about the two alternatives, one using endoscopic surgery, the other via open surgery .
He felt that endoscopic surgery would be successful and he was right
This involved stapling the pouch under general anaesthetic and required only one night stay in hospital .
After about two weeks I was swallowing normally again.
Mr Eng is obviously an expert in his field
