I first met Mr White 13 years ago after being transferred from Oxford. Mr White was a specialist in a condition I had. I was experiencing deteriorating neurological symptoms that had been going on for a number of years. When I arrived at Nottingham, Mr White explained my condition, that it was (at the time) rare and I was going to get stepwise worse and eventually I would become paralysed! I was in total shock, this was the first time hearing the extent of the condition and where I was going to be if not treated quickly. I had no idea! Even though I was transferred from another Neurosurgery Department! Mr White has been the first Dr/Consultant who never made me feel like I wasn’t worth saving, never judging me. He is patient, calm and explains everything in a kind and caring manner, simply, so it can be understood. Mr White performed my surgery promptly, halted the deterioration and saved my legs, gaining some unexpected improvement! I’ve been so lucky to have been transferred to a genuine superstar! Grateful doesn’t cover it! No one knows our bodies better than us and Mr White has always listened and trusted what I have said, so there was no doubt in my mind that when I started to present with deteriorating symptoms again in August 2021 that I would go back. Thanks to his careful monitoring he is trying to offer me a permanent solution and I’m on the path to recovery again. I have utter faith in his care. I have been in and out of the QMC a few times now and I have experienced exceptional care, from Mr White, his team, Doctors, Nurses, Healthcare Assistance’s and not forgetting the tea person, who’s regular visits with chats and treats brighten the days! I can’t thank Mr White enough or his team, saying “Thank You” never seems enough. Thank you Mr White for being patient with me and I’m sorry for being a total nightmare! I will always be forever grateful.
