I have been extremely impressed with the total care I have received from Mr Barrie White from the first time he saw me as a patient in February 2013. From the results of the MRI Scan, Mr White very carefully outlined that surgery was necessary. He not only explained in detail the benefits of surgery but also the risks associated with operation on the spine. From this first appointment I felt at ease and comfortable with Mr White's advice even though this was the first time a consultant had suggested surgery as an option. (My problem had been on-going for over 5 years and i had seen a number of different consultants in this time). I was allowed time to consider the option of surgery and Mr White was also happy for me to seen him again to answer any further questions I had. After seeing Mr White again I felt I was able to make an informed decision. Mr White again carefully explained what he believed was the cause of my problem, that was affecting my legs and making it difficult for me to walk. After electing for surgery I was admitted to Queens Medical Centre on 26th June 2013 and Mr White performed a D10/11/12 laminectomy to decompress the spinal cord. Following surgery, Mr White personally contacted my wife to let her know that everything had gone well. I remained in hospital for 7 days and was very pleased to see and speak to Mr White on most days. I felt very reassured by this. Overall I would like to thank Mr White and his team (and the Neuro-Spinal Post-operative Unit) for the wonderful care and attention I have received all the way from pre-op to post-op.
