I was admitted on 25th January 2023 to the dept. of neurosurgery, Queen’s hospital, Nottingham for an operation on a vascular tumour in my spinal cord. Unfortunately it was the second time this had occurred, the first being in 2016. Mr White explained in detail what would happen and also that scar tissue would mean it would be a more complicated operation with more risks involved. Although I felt very scared about what could be the outcome, Mr White allayed my fears somewhat by saying that he always considered how the patient would be affected for the rest of her life, rather than thinking the tumour must be completely removed. Mr White visited me regularly immediately after my surgery and listened to how I was feeling. He held my hand, literally and mentally and definitely started me on the first stages of my recovery. I will be forever grateful to him and thankful I received his wonderful skills and care.
