Following five years of monitoring by Dr Nick Bunce and his team of cardiologists at St George's, Mr Aziz Momin has recently replaced my heavily calcified aortic valve by open-heart surgery. My first operation date on a Thursday had to be cancelled because of a shortage of ICU beds so he alleviated that stress by promptly booking me as first on his list for the following Monday. All went to plan and I was home by the Friday.
Mr Momin was decisive, thorough, fast to respond to a temporary post-op set-back, and readily available to answer my concerns. During the long recovery process, he is showing genuine interest in me as an individual patient. Post-op checks confirm that the valve has been successfully replaced and that my heart is functioning well.
