I had 2 metastatic cancerous lesions removed at the end of February by Mr. Coonar. After my diagnosis, I was pretty horrified about the prospect of having my lung operated on; I had fears of breathing being painful for weeks after the operation or not waking up at all! Before I met Mr. Coonar I was already aware of his very impressive experience, but it was such a relief to meet a very kind, compassionate man who almost effortlessly managed to allay my fears and answer all my questions. I left the consultation feeling like I had met someone who would very much personally ensure I was OK, not just professionally - that I could implicitly trust the person who was going to operate on me. My stay in Papworth hospital was outstanding, I had my own room with private facilities (we all did on my wing) and I was actually cleared to go home 2 days after my operation, such was the quality of care I received from Mr. Coonar and everyone else at Papworth hospital. Within 3 weeks I was able to start running again slowly which just goes to show how skilfully and diligently I was operated on. Like other reviewers here I feel incredibly lucky to have been under his care, and so grateful. Thank you. Michelle
