I first saw Mr Fairbank whilst still suffering the acute effects of skiing injuries, followed by a further consultation after scans had been obtained. Mr Fairbank was courteous and thorough in taking my previous medical history, an account of my current symptoms and in conducting a physical examination. He took care to explain what my problems are, using an anatomical model for this purpose as well as the CT scans. He explained carefully the options available to me, with emphasis on outcomes and future treatment. I had all of the information I needed upon which to make a decision. My only caveat is that he is not the surgeon originally recommended to me (as having particular expertise with skiing injuries) but he is a keen sports cyclist, as am I, and I felt reassured that he understood my concerns in respect of future participation in both sports. I am awaiting the recommended arthroscopies which is why I have very slightly qualified my scores.
