I found Mr Sawyer very friendly and approachable during my first appointment. He showed and explained what the operation entailed and immediately after re arm slings. The anaesthetist was very reassuring before the op as was Mr Sawyer. As we were going to the theatre I told the nurse that I had no identification band which was immediately rectified. During my overnight stay one of the nurses was particularly attentive, caring and reassuring. I felt there needed to be more detail for the follow up care as an area of my scar was not healing (week 3) and the nurse advised not to put the micropore on so that the air could get to it. that meant I did not continue with the compression sleeves. I saw Mr Sawyer (week 5) and suggested that I use a flannel and soap to remove the dry skin, to moisturise 3 times a day and put on Kelo Cote twice a day which I am doing religiously. He also asked was I not wearing my sleeves as they were still swollen. I feel it would be helpful to have some form of guidelines and suggestions to be given before the operation as indeed you will find happens atomically with the NHS. I must also mention Rebecca who was always accommodating, helpful and professional. It is now 7 weeks post op and I am very happy with the result although I still have 2 small `scab` areas, although this could be the norm.
