I went for a diagnostic colonoscopy on 27th August 2022 after having submitted a sample to The Bowel Screening Service 2 weeks earlier. I had a number of polyps removed one of which was found to be cancerous. I was referred to the surgical team and in November I had a left hemicolectomy performed by Mr Farquharson and his team. From my first interaction with the hospital, all the way through to my post operative care, I received very professional treatment from a very dedicated team of people. My recovery has been excellent and I only experienced a couple of weeks of discomfort. I am fortunate not to require any further treatment but will continue to be monitored. This particular service is one that the Shrewsbury Hospital should be very proud of.
