I can’t speak too highly enough of the Colorectal team at Shrewsbury Hospital. I was referred to Mr Farquharson in the second week of December last year when a CT scan showed a possible tumour in my ascending colon. Following an external examination Mr Farquharson confirmed that it was a cancer and arranged for a Colonoscopy and a further CT scan of my chest to see if the cancer had spread. Both of these were carried out before Christmas and showed that the cancer was limited to the colon. Mr Farquharson carried out this operation the last week of January this year and so I can only praise the speed and efficiency between diagnosis and surgery. After the operation I was in the recovery ward with the Shrewsbury Colorectal team of nurses. The staff were amazing and the care received second to none. Some of the care can obviously be quite personal but their positive attitude and sense of humour always shone through. It must be one of the few places where people are happy to hear that you have broken wind! All this was during the peak of the Covid pandemic. I am well on the road to recovery now so a huge thank you again to Mr Farquharson and all his team. Best regards Steve Taylor
