Before my son was born, my husband expressed his wish that our son be circumcised (to be like him as he was done when he was a baby). For me, it was a concept I had to get used to, as it's never been done in my family, so I researched it thoroughly, including where to get it done. I was encouraged by the very positive reviews of Thornhill Clinic. After my son was born, I started to have doubts about circumcising my baby, mainly because I was worried about how painful it would be for him, as well as about something possibly going wrong. After changing my mind once or twice, I let my son get to 6 weeks old before I finally booked an appointment to have my son circumcised. On the day itself, I was very nervous for my son, with all kinds of doubts about whether I was doing the right thing. Luckily the doctor and nurses were so reassuring, and did a lot to reassure me that all would be fine. And indeed it was! My son went in for his procedure and came out sleeping. We were given good aftercare advice on how to look after my son's penis while it was healing. In the days that followed, my little boy didn't seem in any discomfort, even though his penis did look red and swollen for a few days, which the doctor advised me was normal. After 7 days, the plastic ring had come off in his nappy along with a small amount of foreskin. A day or so after that it was completely healed. I was so relieved that the process was so simple, and am actually very happy with the end result. If I'm honest, I prefer how it looks now that he's been circumcised. Thanks to the staff at Thornhill Clinic, I feel that what I thought would be a nerve wracking experience, turned out to be much more straightforward than I had imagined. If I would do anything differently, I would not have put it off so long and would have had my son circumcised around the two week stage. But it's done now, and that's the main thing. No regrets at all!
