I had surgery for breast cancer that had spread to my lymph glands. This wa sin The Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. Subsequent to this there were numerous severe complications. These included a haematoma, seroma, the wound opened up and infections. My wound was infected with 2 serious infections, the hospital failed to tell me of these, or treat me for them. I was sent to see Miss Bews Hair as her clinic was nearer than the hospital which operated on me. She saw me twice and stated that there was no infection present in the wound. This was incorrect as I was advised two months after swabs were taken that there were two serious infections present in the wound. Subsequent to that a further infection was diagnosed in the wound. Later on my GP referred me to her for a review as I was still having problems with pain and discomfort but she refused to see me saying there was no infection present. She was incorrect once again. The content of her letter to me GP was defamatory of me and abusive. She is uncaring and unfit to practise.

Miss Bews-Hair has been my consultant through two treatments for breast cancer in 2011 and 2016. I recently had another cause for concern. I was seen by Miss Bews-Hair in the new one stop clinic. Great improvement as speeds everything up. Fortunately my problem is thickening scar tissue from previous surgery. Miss Bews-Hair is the most delightful yet totally professional lady you could have the pleasure of meeting. She shared all the results of the tests with me and explained the causes of my problems. She understands that i need to know everything and put my mind at rest. We are so fortunate to have sich a compassionate professional lady here in D&G.

My partner was admitted to Dumfries Hospital on Monday 26th August with a ruptured appendix. Miss Bews-Hair was her consultant. She was very professional, personable and made us both feel totally at ease. Even when she visited Heather in her room after the operation she continued to put her at ease and explained the whole process to her. She is a great friend and I hope that she stays in Dumfries serving the people of this county.

I recently attended the breast clinic in Dumfries and was feeling scared on what my diagnosis may turn out to be. Miss Bews-Hair was very kind and her examination very thorough. Her manner and explanation reassured me.

Miss Bews-Hair is a delightful lady who is totally professional with a great attitude towards her patients. Following surgery for breast cancer 4 yrs ago, I have had an annual mammogram and visit with Miss Bews-Hair. I can honestly say that what could be a stressful experience is a relaxed, pleasurable consultation conducted with good humour and interest by Miss Bews-Hair. I feel lucky to have her as my Consultant.
