I had a hysterectomy at Epsom General Hospital in February 2015 and had the good fortune to be operated on by Miss Ammar and her team. During our various discussions, both before and after the operation, it was obvious that Miss Ammar's over-riding concern was always for my wellbeing. She was endlessly patient in dealing with my questions and concerns, and at the same time gave me total confidence in her ability. But she was also friendly and warm and down to earth, without any of the haughtiness that seems to blight so many senior medics. To use a cliché, Katy went the extra mile - she even came to visit me on her day off! It's no exaggeration to describe her professionalism and quality of care as amazing. If only more doctors were like her.
