I was diagonosed with breast cancer in April, 2019. Having been referred to Wycombe
Hospital, I was very fortunate and lucky to be under the wonderful care of Miss Georgina Bitsakou.
From the first consultation with her, I felt so reassured and knew I would be very well
looked after. To find out you have cancer is a very stressful and frightening time in your
life, and is quite a shock.
All through my diagnosis and treatment Miss Bitsakou explained everything to me
positively but honestly, and I knew exactly what was going to happen to me. If she said
she would telephone me or arrange a scan or any other appointment, it would happen
and be done on time. Miss Bitsakou always had time to talk to me, listen and explain
any conerns or questions I might have, and to reassure me.
Understandably, when I had my first operation, which she was performing, I was very
nervious and worried about it. When I was waiting just before the operation she personally came to see me, told me not to worry, and yes I would wake up from the
anaesthetic, and gave me a hug. I really appreciated that and felt much calmer.
I needed to have a second operation which she previously explained might be a possibility, so I was prepared for it, after which she came into recovery and told me
all had gone well.
I have now finished my radiotherapy treatment, which again was fully explained to me
and the duration of it, again accurately and I knew what to expect.
Other woman who now find themselves in my past situation will be very lucky to be
under the care if Miss Georgina Bitsakou.
Angela.
