I was diagnosed in February 2021 with breast cancer and after a lot of consideration I decided to go forward with an immediate reconstruction and diep, it was at this point I was placed in the care of Miss Hazari and her team at the QVH. Our first meeting had to take place on zoom due to covid, however Miss Hazari had put together a very informative power point explaining what would happen and what I should expect. Miss Hazari came across as a very kind, friendly and calm lady who didn't rush my partner or me into making any decisions, she was also very happy to answer any questions we had. Our next meeting was a face to face at the Queen Victoria Hospital. Again Miss Hazari was very kind and she listened to my concerns and when I became emotional and felt overwhelmed by the whole process she actually gave me a hug which really helped. It was so nice to have a doctor/surgeon who showed such compassion at this very difficult time, but still was professional in her approach. Throughout this meeting she constantly reassured me making this difficult situation more bearable. On the day of the operation Miss Hazari made sure I knew exactly what was going on and still gave me time to ask any questions I had.  She took the time to explain what she was doing whilst marking out where she would operate and again she constantly reassured me. After the operation and when I was back on the ward she came down to visit with another member of her team, she explained how the operation had gone and that she was very pleased with the results. She gave me some excellent advice and told me not to stand up right for two weeks, this I am so grateful for as others' I know who have had this operation and were up right quickly ended up with a lot of problems with their scar, whereas mine is very neat and healed quickly. All of my follow up appointments have always been on time and yet I was never rushed during any of the consultations. I have now come to the end of my treatment and I feel that being in the care of Miss Hazari has made a difficult situation as pleasurable as it possibly could be, I've never felt I couldn't ask questions and I know I always had honest answers. I would like to thank Miss Hazari and her team for such wonderful care throughout this awful time in my life and I know this has helped me both physically and mentally come to terms with this illness. I feel so lucky to have had such an amazing group of people manage my care from the breast care nurses Pam and Rebecca to all the staff on the Margaret Duncombe ward also not forgetting Miss Hazari's secretaries who have forwarded numerous letters to me and all the theatre staff who maintained a calm and positive atmosphere when I felt like falling apart.  I would just like to finish off saying, anyone who finds themselves in the care of Miss Hazari couldn't have a better consultant looking after them. Thank you so much Susan Crennell
