I've never left a review for any heath professional before and I've been lucky in my adult life not to need much in the way of medical assistance bar the odd ear infection. The last couple of weeks I've been going though hell with anxiety to the point it occupied every waking moment and the stress was affecting my body, it was even affecting me while i was sleeping. My job involves meeting teams of heath professionals regularly in relation to other people from behavioural, physiotherapists, lead social workers, GP's, consultants, speech therapist, nurses etc so I know quite a lot of them. At some point in everyone's life they get an appointment at their local practice and end up with thr GP nobody wants to see. We've all been there lol but Dr Ikes isnt that Doctor. My first appointment with Dr Ikes was good but I was so fried by the rough weekend I'd had that I was too emotional to actually form a coherent sentence and it was like I was a physically there but not participating. I could tell he was smart and trying to reach me but I think I was too far gone mentally to help, anyway he prescribed something to calm me down and for another condition. I could tell he knew I would be back. After 3 or 4 days the medication he prescribed had the chance to work and I asked for another appointment, got an appointment very quickly. On arrival I sort of apologized for my lack of helping the last time knowing he wasnt telepathic which we laughed off, we had a very helpful discussion and described what I'd been going through which took a little time but I could tell he was listening to every word attentively. I knew a little bit about the topic and we talked about the treatment and he really put my mind at ease, the treatment was tailored for me including something preventative incase the first few weeks of medication were rough. Dr Ikes is clearly a very intelligent and gifted doctor, he took his time with me and treated me like a human at a real time of uncertainty for everyone in the heath profession at at a point of crisis in my life.

Dr Ickes is a breath of fresh air, he explains everything in a way I can understand and therefore puts my mind at ease. I feel listened to and respected and I feel confident in his knowledge, practice and abilities. I have a chronic medical condition so I’ve seen my fair share of doctors, and he is one of the few that I ask for by name. (Please stay in Carlisle) :)

I find Dr Tom to be very approachable. Open to discussion with members of the surgery team in relation to patients.
