If Dr Shyamsunder Mariguddi is reflective of the standard of doctor in the national health service then the service is in a really good place.
He was the perfect role model, a consummate professional in all the senses of the word. Knowledgeable, thoughtful, patient, he talked to us, rather than at us, explaining on a level that we understood. He followed up when he said he was going to and displayed genuine people and communication skills which, from experience is sometimes lacking in the older generation of consultants in the medical profession. The sad thing for us is that I understand he has now moved on to another post.
