I had experienced nine months of continuous pain in my right hip due to osteoarthritis and was finally lucky enough to receive a consultation appointment with Mr Krishnan via the NHS referral service. From the outset Mr Krishnan was very professional and approachable and immediately put me at ease. After an initial discussion about my previous medical history and then a thorough examination of my right hip, he detailed the options which would be available to me, the best being a total hip replacement operation Mr Krishnan is obviously an expert in orthopaedic surgery and he was very honest, going through the risks as well as the benefits, giving me the opportunity to ask as many questions as I wished, without being rushed, before making the decision to go ahead with the operation. I was admitted to BMI Chiltern Hospital on the morning of Thursday 21 February and was operated on later that day. Mr Krishnan visited me prior to starting his operating schedule for the day and once again put me totally at ease about the procedure he would perform. He gave me time to ask questions and I had total trust in him ( and also his anaesthetist, who visited me slightly later and who was also excellent). I was last on the operating list and did not arrive back to my room on the ward until around 10pm but Mr Krishnan came to visit me that night to make sure that all was well following the operation. He also visited me on each of the following two days to check my progress, making sure that everything was going to plan. He spent time going through the results of the operation, once again taking time to ensure that I had no queries and then explained the details of my recovery plan I was discharged after 3 nights in hospital and went home on walking sticks rather than crutches, due to the good progress I had made. Now, 6 weeks after the operation, I have a very neat scar, I am pain free and my mobility is almost back to normal, which is due, I am sure, to having had such an excellent surgeon. I would like to add that The BMI Chiltern Hospital was second to none, it was spotlessly clean and every single member of staff I met was dedicated to the care of the patients. They were friendly, professional and absolutely nothing was too much trouble for any one of them
