Dr O'Connell saw me when I was in serious pain suffering from what other doctors in the practice had for eighteen months dismissed as IBS. I saw him on a Monday morning having been in pain all weekend but disinclined to 'clog up A&E over the weekend'. He diagnosed the need for an urgent referral and organised a bed in the emergency surgical unit of York hospital whilst I sat in his consulting room. Within 24 hours I had, thankfully, had emergency surgery and am now pretty well fully recovered. I had a large, twisted fibroid removed - the cause of all my 'IBS problems'. He suggested I might have appendicitis and the surgeon removed my appendix. So I cannot praise Dr O'Connell highly enough for his clinical skills and his strategic approach to dealing with the issues I presented with. Dr O'Connell dealt with me in a very professional manner and impressed me with his ability to diagnose my condition correctly and his swift responses having done so. HIs attitude then and since give me confidence in his diagnostic skills and in his humane approach to patients - he is charming and astute!
