Dr Akker at St Bart's is an exceptional example of what a medical doctor should be and his expertise plus his dealing and communication with patients should a compulsory subject to be taught to medical students today since most of the new doctors lack respect and compassion with patients. From the first appointment, he assured me and comforted me with facts and positive vibes. He always ensures that you are fully aware of the pros and cons of any treatment and medication and to today's NHS standard his communication through mail is reasonably fast. He is a kind person and very understanding and not like today's doctors looking at his watch or rushing the diagnosis. I would recommend him 100% without any hesitation to any person requiring consultancy services for endocrinology.
