It would be no exaggeration to say that Dr Cubbin saved my life. After struggling with ridiculous issues across all aspects of my life that went under the radar for far too long I was finally referred to Dr Cubbin and diagnosed with ADHD. I have no idea how it was possible to fit me in as I am aware the waiting times are unacceptable at the moment, but yet Dr Cubbin was able to spare the time and give the most compassionate and thorough evaluation. I was incredibly anxious during this call and yet Dr Cubbin was able to help me relax. This lead to treatment that has been so profound and lifechanging I am still in disbelief. This happened roughly around the time the abhorrent "Private ADHD Clinics Exposed" BBC Panorama documentary came out, so after figuring out the root of my problems it was disheartening to hear that many people believe ADHD to be a "fake condition" or diagnosis and further increasing the unjust stigma the condition faces. Admittedly the documentary did show that some private clinics are acting in an inappropriate way, but they failed to recognise that: this is a minority of clinics, ADHD is severely underdiagnosed in the UK, the life destroying harm it may cause, the different types of presentations and misunderstanding that has led to people like myself being allowed to suffer in silence and all kinds of other issues. I would urge anyone of the opinion that the documentary presented to please read the responses from various ADHD specialists in the UK which are are easily found on Google. I don't use TikTok but I am aware there is some kind of trend happening on there. I would recommend you look at the extended criteria and consider whether you have the symptoms and speak to a professional because unfortunately there is a lot of misinformation from unqualified people on social media. That said, it is good if exposure and understanding of the condition increases. It turns out that the stereotypical definition of ADHD only accounts for one side of the coin. It is now known that it can manifest in various ways, for example that hyperactivity can potentially manifest as quiet, restless and highly anxious behaviour. If you are suffering and you suspect you might have this condition I would urge you to PLEASE seek help and book an appointment with Dr Cubbin. Nobody deserves to suffer in silence with this condition.
