I was referred from York Teaching Hospital to Chapel Allerton for Mohs surgery on a large BCC on my right cheek. I was seen quickly by a multidisciplinary team and was allocated a nurse who would be my contact with the Hospital until treatment was completed. Each time I contacted her she was extremely supportive and helped me with my decision making. I had a number of options explained to me for the treatment of the BCC and was given time to decide on my preferred treatment. I opted for Mohs surgery under Dr. Hussain. I was seen for surgery within 3 months of my initial appointment (despite Covid). Communication from the hospital was excellent. I cannot speak highly enough of the treatment I received. Dr. Hussain and his team explained clearly what the surgery would involve and put me at ease. During the operation Dr Hussain, Lisa and Gina were conversational and good humoured and I felt relaxed and confident throughout. Once the cancer had been removed, Dr Hussain carried out plastic surgery to reconstruct my face. I was given clear advice on after care and returned to Leeds after 3 days for the dressing to be changed and a week later to have the dressing removed. I have since had regular check ups to monitor the healing of the wound. Five months on it is difficult to see that any surgery has taken place. I cannot thank Dr.Hussain and his team enough for their care and am in awe of their expertise.
