On 28 February 2017, I underwent transsphenoidal surgery for the removal of a pituitary macroadenoma at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh. I found Dr Sutherland to be a friendly, informative anaesthetist who put me at ease for what lay ahead. Post-operatively, he regularly checked on my progress and displayed genuine interest in my case as I had a slightly more difficult intubation. I am very thankful for the skills and professionalism of Dr Sutherland.
