Share review of Dr Rekha Garg
My feedback relates to events occurring in April 2015.
I'm afraid I'm not satisfied with the care I received from this doctor. She was one of 2 doctors who I had dealings with following a serious and prolonged episode of arrhythmia. The other doctor was Dr Pambakian who was very professional and I'm glad I saw him initially after the episode.
The context at the time was I had no idea if I'd recently had a heart attack or even if I was in imminent danger of dropping dead. I had yet to get a Cardiologist appointment, I had been advised by another doctor the next day after the episode that if anything like it, not even as serious, happened again that I should immediately call an ambulance. To summarise - I felt ill and terrified for a number of weeks afterwards.
After my initial appointment with Dr Pambakian I phoned the surgery some days later. I still felt unwell, scared and needed questions answered. Dr Garg phoned back and answered various questions. Her tone was cold and dismissive. She even said at one point 'we have a very busy clinic'. The meaning was clear from her tone - that I was wasting doctors' time.
To follow-up she phoned back later in the week and her tone was again cold and dismissive. In addition to this she was also confrontational. When I simply and honestly recapped our previous conversation for the benefit of the both of us she retorted in a confrontational manner 'you must have had a different conversation to me!'. At this point, I was beginning to lose patience with her and it I actually reminded her that she had also said she had a busy clinic. I still felt ill, my chest felt delicate and I had been trying to avoid any confrontation with anyone as it physically hurt. I honestly felt I was being kicked when I was down.
I find this episode very distressing. Those weeks following the episode were the worst of my life. Dr Garg with her lack of sympathy and empathy significantly added to this distress.
