Having been in Southampton General's ICU for a week in early September 2013, I was called back for an Intensive Care Follow-up Clinic on 8 November where I was seen by Dr Cusak. I had not seen her during my stay in ICU (as far as I know), but found her to be extremely useful in helping me to come to terms with my experiences of 8 weeks before. Her reassurances over how long it was likely to be in realistic terms before being 'back to normal', why certain legacy conditions might have occured and what should be done to review them, all totally exceeded my expectations of this Clinic. Above all she spent time, more than my appointment slot I fear, to deal with my concerns in a most caring way which I suspect does not often happen in todays NHS. I am most appreciative of such a high standard of aftercare.
