Dr Shah is an excellent doctor, he listens to the patient, explains the situation very clearly. He has a good sense of humour which helps, in what can be, a difficult situation. I do wish that he had more time to devote to me and my problems, and I wish I could contact him, or someone, to discuss my condition. There used to be an IBD nurse but she moved on and has not been replaced. While Dr Shah is very good the general administration of Broomfield Hospital is far from good. I have had appointments where nobody knew I was coming, I have waited for long periods. On one occasion I was told by Reception to wait in the Atrium which I did, much later, after chasing around I found that Dr Shah didn't even have a clinic that day. My last appointment with Dr Shah was 11th December and I was told that I should see him again in two months time. I handed in the form at Reception and was told that I would receive the appointment date within a couple of weeks - five weeks later I'm still waiting. As for the car parking at Broomfield - what a disaster! Basically, the medical care received is first class but the administration supporting the medical care is very poor. I have had cause to go to Springfield Hospital as an NHS patient and the difference is as chalk and cheese. The admin here is excellent, you are seen promptly and you rarely have to wait. On one occasion I had to see Mr Levy, I arrived about twenty minutes early and I was seen and was "out the door" before the scheduled appointment time. And this is still NHS, it proves that it is possible to be efficient in the NHS system.
