What can I say? Having been referred to Dr Singh my relative was full of hope but this quickly diminished when we realised you actually never see him! No follow up appointments to check how you are! He says you can ring his clinic to ask him to call or to arrange an appointment but this is simply not the case! You do not receive a return phone call neither do you have an appointment! What is the point in a psychiatrist that you never get to see? I am under the impression he is looking for a more management related role so in the meanwhile my relative and others are just wandering in the dark!

Response from Dr Pritpal Singh

All GP referrals for mental health assessment are screened daily at a 'Single Point of Access' (GPs who may have identified mental health needs in primary care can refer to the Single Point of Access) by a team of experienced mental health professionals. Based on nature of input required a multidisciplinary decision is made as follows: -sign post referral to the most appropriate service - which may include primary care mental health team, psychological therapies, third sector counselling services. -screening by Community Mental health team and if appropriate a further specialist assessment in my clinic. -specialist medical assessment in my clinic Follow up telephone appointments were introduced due to shortage of clinic appointments available and used to follow up patients whose mental health has stabilized and are back in work.
