I was first diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in my 20s but was then symptom free off treatment for over 10 years. When I started to develop joint pain again I went to my GP who referred me to the rheumatology department. As I waited for my appointment date to come round I was struggling more and more. I was having difficulty walking even short distances and worried that my condition would affect my ability to continue my job as an optometrist and care for my 2 young children. Dr Shah spotted my blood test result and phoned me to ask how I was doing. She offered me an appointment the following day and soon after that I started taking Methotrexate and my symptoms began to improve. Six months later I was offered Humira. I was rather nervous about the potential side effects but Dr Shah and her team convinced me to try it. This has been a real life changer for me. I have now started running again and going for walks with my family. My energy levels have improved and I feel more able to keep up with my children. Dr Shah and her team have always taken time to listen and explain my condition and treatment and I am very grateful for the care I have received.
