Dr Philip Das was my anaesthetist for a TURP. I was a little apprehensive although many reassurances were given to me by both medical and non-medical people. Dr Das was very open, explaining the pros and cons of local and general anaesthesia. We settled for a local with the proviso, due to my lasting apprehension, to keep the option of a general in reserve, as it were. This caring, considerate approach was much appreciated and I remain very grateful his patience, professionalism and communication throughout the operation. The local proved to be the best option.
