Dr Sweet was my anaesthetist for my hip replacement. His calm and friendly manner made me feel more comfortable as I was quite anxious about the spinal anaesthetic. He kept me informed about everything he was doing until I was under full sedation. I had originally asked and expected to be given only a mild sedation where you drift in and out of consciousness during the procedure (which I had for my 1st hip replacement last year) but he preferred the full sedation which, with hindsight, was actually very nice as I fell asleep in the anaesthetic room and woke up in the recovery room where he visited me before I was transferred back to my room. He also visited me the following morning to check that I was ok and all of the spinal anaesthetic had worn off.
