I had an appointment with Dr Luque yesterday after speaking to him on the phone a few days previously using the surgery's triage system (at that time, I was suddenly and unprecedentedly experiencing such bad vertigo and vomiting that I was unable to leave home). Dr Luque's manner was warm and welcoming, and made it clear that he was concerned to deal with "unfinished business". He apologized for not seeing me on time (half an hour past my scheduled appointment time of 11:20). He listened attentively to what I had to say while simultaneously taking notes on his computer. We discussed my current symptoms, and what might have precipitated them. He examined my ears and throat and also took my blood pressure. He refined his original diagnosis and prescription, and explained what was responsible for my condition, taking account of the homework I had done in the meantime. At every stage I felt as though I was the most important thing he had to think about at the time. I couldn't have designed a better patient-GP interaction.
