I have been away in the US for the past 15 years. During that time, I developed cronic illness that has remained unresolved there (the finacial burden only in part to blame). Dr. Barker came highly recommended by several people as the man to see, because of his ability to remain medically curious and dogged in his exploration of his patients. He has proved to be a man of humour and intergrity, with an honest and unabashed compassion - a very rare gift in a profession that, by it's nature of sheer volumn and guidelines, invites often callousness or arrogance (the 'norm' in the US, and that's before you paid them). I realize how lucky and blessed I am and I know it's not always the case with others, but I suggest that treating our GPs with respect and empathy first for the title they have worked so hard for, might loosen up the most ferocious bear!
