I am a 64 year old female who was diagnosed with petit mal seizures 33 years ago. These seizures were controlled by taking Tegretol and I do not have them anymore but still take the medication. About 15 years ago I started having dizzy spells and double vision quite frequently. This would happened as I looked upwards quickly. I went to my GP about it and was referred to a neurologist at Maidstone. I explained my symptoms to him and he said that unless he witnessed me during these dizzy spells he could not really do anything to help me. So I thought that unless he let me knock on his door when it was happening There was nothing to be done. I put up with these dizzy spells until early this year 2018. I was working as receptionist on Dr Khan's clinic and I just happened to mention my problem to her. She said that if I went to my GP and got a referral letter to see her she would see me as soon as possible. I went to see Dr Khan and straight away she recognised that I had been on the same medication for the entire time that I had suffered the seizures and thought that I could be suffering with paroxysmal episodes of Tegretol toxicity. Dr Khan's treatment plan for me is to ween me slowly off of Tegretol and change me to another tablet. I have been working at this since March and am doing very well with no dizzy spells or double vision. I have complete faith in Dr Khan and think that she is a wonderful doctor who knows her speciality very well.
