I have seen various neurologists Over the last 9 years to try to help me with a complex movement disorder. I have been referred to various London hospitals and nobody could help. It was, literally ruining my life. I was referred in the end to a psychiatrist, who helped me enormously in other areas, but my movements continued without any let up. Then, I was referred locally to Dr Kahn. She knew immediately what the disorder that I was suffering with was. The first couple of medications I tried worked to an extent but didn’t agree with me. At my last appointment I mentioned something that happens which I’d not thought to say before. It hadn’t seemed important to me but it gave Dr Khan all the information she needed to help. She asked if I wanted a prescription, which I did,, and the movements have all but gone. I am more comfortable than I have been over the entire 9 years of trying and being told it was a psychosomatic movement disorder. Talking therapy did not help my movements at all, despite meting quite useful. Dr Kahn also understands my auto immune issues, as she she treats patients with a wide range of neurological problems. I really recommend Dr Khan. She has a great deal of insight of symptoms, as well as treatments. So glad I was referred to a local neurologist for my movements and didn’t stay with the London teaching hospitals. In my personal experience, the London teaching hospitals are professional, well informed safe feeling life saving places, but I didn’t find the Neurologist who was right for me there. Don’t pass up their opinions, but don’t be afraid to ask for a second opinion by Dr Kahn.
