My father has been under Dr Harrison since Oct 2020. The care and attention he has received has been nothing short of disgusting. I am currently writing this while waiting for a scheduled call from Dr Harrison that was due to take place 4 hour ago, this is now the 3-4 scheduled call we have had with him over the last few months that we have been left waiting in excess of 2 hours after the agreed time. What can Dr Harrison do better; 1. Not give devastating and brutal updates on someone's progress via letter and then expect the patient to wait over 4 weeks to speak to someone so they can ask questions and understand what this means to them. 2. Actually call - for the majority of my dads treatment he has been in contact with Dr Harrisons secretary more than the consultant himself and when we do get him to agree to a call we are left waiting for hours after the expected call time. 3. Read patient files before engaging with them. The last time we spoke to him after waiting hours he had no idea what was going on with my Dads case and in fact asked my Dad him why he was now on palliative care! 4. Be honest - My dad was completely unaware that his Cancer was incurable until an unexpected letter dropped through his door the day before Christmas which advised us that he was now incurable. We then spent weeks getting our head round this to find that Dr Harrison didn't know this was what we had been told and in fact wanted to explore the option of a liver re-section. 5. Give explanations - my Dad struggled with the target drugs he was given more than that Chemo itself. When he raised this with the hospital he kept being told to "have a break" from them with no explanation as to what impact this may have on his recovery.
