I had a consultation with Mr. Gallagher in November 2018; my issue concerned persistent Atrial Fibrillation which–despite open-heart surgery and valve replacement in August–continued to be a serious problem, even though specific steps were taken to remediate the heart rhythm during the valve replacement procedure. Dr. Gallagher sensed just how worried I was about this and took the time to reassure me that it was not so unusual for the heart to take a few months to "settle" after an operation. I knew that he was speaking from a position of immense research and practice, so his advice was greatly reassuring. I did NOT find him to be "detached", nor any of the other concerning qualities described in a few reviews on this website; I found him to be most sympathetic and concerned. He does, I think, have a dry and ironic sense of humour which I am sure some people just do not "get"; luckily, it is very similar to my own, so we got along very well. I believe that he is being misjudged for his dry wit and rather deliberate speaking style; not a problem for me, considering the wealth of experience and information he commanded. ---Bill Noce
