A short, curt statement on the Greystone Surgery website informing us that Dr. Joe McGilligan has left doesn’t go anywhere near saying about Joe the person. Joe was a lovely colleague to work with who, in my opinion, never lost sight of why he became a GP in the first place - to care for his patients. So I’m hoping that Joe’s patients and colleagues, ex-colleagues and many friends will read this and add their good wishes and give him the send off he so deserves. Please keep comments polite although, knowing Joe, it would bring a wry smile to his face if there wasn’t at least one that mentioned him overrunning on his appointments and the weight of his in-tray! For my part, I would like to place on record what a smashing colleague he was who had such a calm presence and who showed nothing but kindness in his words and actions. The loss to Greystone Surgery is beyond immeasurable and he will go down in folklore as the Doctor who cared and really did make a difference. All the best, Joe.
